The Rest of May

Random pictures from the month of May!

Tired Boy

Watching a movie with dad.

My Sweet Boy

I put him in his toy bucket and he thought
it was pretty funny!

Green smoothie sample at Costco.  He drank the whole
thing, then cried when it was gone!

Looking at the fishies at Walmart

Best $1.50 I've ever spent!

Discovered his reflection in the overflow
drain.  Now every time he has a bath
he loves to see his face in it.
Tanner learned to wave bye-bye!

Graduate

Aaron's youngest sister, Janessa, graduated from West Jordan High School on May 31, 2012.  She recieved two enhanced diplomas!  Good job, Janessa!

Janessa!

There were 401 graduates!  Crazy for this small town girl
who had 69 graduates in her class!

Can you tell how Tanner felt about sitting
through this?!  Ha ha.  He was actually super
tired and also hates loud noises, so when
the cheering began, so did the tears.

Beautiful girl....congrats!

Helmet Head

We visited the orthotist, and got Tanner's helmet on May 30, 2012.

BEFORE the fitting.  He was a happy camper.

After the 1st fitting.  He wasn't too happy and
had tears in his eyes.  Poor little boy!  The
model on the exam table is Tanner's head, from
the initial scan he had done.

Little helmet head.  I feel bad he has to go
through this, but I have to admit, he DOES
look pretty cute in it!

Road Trip

Since Aaron was working in Seattle for a few weeks, Tanner and I decided to take a little trip to Kanab to see Grandma and Grandpa Vaughn.  It was nice to be back "home", relax, and see family.  I always like going back to Kanab, it is such a beautiful little town.  My favorite is coming off of the sand dunes and suddenly being surrounded by the red hills!  That feeling never gets old!

Turns out, Tanner doesn't like the car as much
as he used to.  We had to make a coupld of pit
stops to let him out of his seat and stretch.

Cousins!  Blake loves Tanner and is really cute
with him.  He always brings him toys, his
binky, blanket, burp rag, etc.  And he loves
to give him hugs and kisses.  So cute!

Looking outside

Giving Grandma a smile

Going on a walk -- taking some flowers to
Tanner's Great Grandpa Vaughn's grave for
Memorial Day.

He loved being outside and the weather was perfect that night!

Tanner has a little blue ball that he absolutely
LOVES!  Grandma found this HUGE blue exercise
ball.  He didn't know what to think at first, then
decided it was pretty cool.

On our way home, we stopped in Marysvale to visit my Grandma and Grandpa Gleave.  We don't get to see them often enough!  This was only the 2nd time they had seen Tanner.  It was fun to see them and catch up.

Tanner with Great Grandpa Gleave.  Grandpa
loves the babies....he seems rough and gruff,
but is a big softy :)

Meeting Lloyd.  He had a huge grin on his face when he
got to pet his leg.  Sorry, Tanner, no pets for this family.
We can just love on other people's pets.

Flat

Since Tanner was an itty-bitty babe, he has always favored sleeping on his right side.  It didn't matter how we positioned him, he would wiggle his way back to laying on the right side of his head.  Since he was such a stubborn little guy, the right side of his head ended up pretty flat.  His doctor thought it would round out once he started sitting and being upright more, but that didn't happen.  At his 7 month appointment, we decided it was time to get a helmet.  After a few days of talking to the insurance and calling several orthotic and prosthetic companies, we found out that our insurance didn't cover cranial molding helmets because they considered it to be cosmetic.  LAME!  Anyway, if it's severe enough and not fixed, it can cause jaw alignment issues and vision problems in the future -- something that we didn't want Tanner, or us, to have to deal with.  So on May 18th, we took a little visit to the orthotist.  His head is "off" by 14 mm.  The average child that they treat is off by 10-15mm, so his was on the high end.  They did a little scan of his head by using a sock over his head covered with lots of little reflective dot stickers.  It didn't even matter that he moved -- it was crazy -- and the scanner ended up making a 3D picture of his head.  We'll get his helmet in a week, and it is likely he will have it for 3-4 months.

Waiting for Dave, Tanner's orthotist

Happy Boy!

Getting ready for his scan

After his appointment, ready to go home.  He was such a good boy :)

My 1st Mother's Day

I love this little boy more than ANYTHING!  I am so thankful for the opportunity to be his mommy.  He is the sweetest thing around and always has a smile and a kiss for his mama.  He has only been in my arms for 7 short months, but I can't remember life without him -- I can't IMAGINE life without him!  He seriously melts my heart <3

Little Stinkbug

Tanner loves to play with the cold air return vent -- he runs his finger down it and it makes a fun sound :)  He's also been pushing up onto his hands and feet like a little stinkbug.  It's pretty cute!

Oh, the drool......He's worse than a dog :)

He loved the rice with the enchilada sauce.  YUM!
